Problem accessing micrososft exchange server via vpn

I am using outlook on my dell laptop using broad band cable modem through a vpn. First time I configure the exchange server I am able to see all the folders and the mails. But when I log off and login again I am not able to expand my microsoft exchange server folders.
I am using windows 2000, sp4
office xp,latest service packs.

Any idea why this is happening.
