I have problem with my 2912XL swich. I can't access to it at all via cosole port. There is nothing show up on my Hyperterminal. I check the switch, it seemed runs fine. All lights are green. I don't know what's going on with it. It's brand new.
Have you stepped through all the connection settings starting from 9600 upwards. Sometimes the ports are set higher to facilitate loading or upgrading of the IOS image.
Change the console cable (might be defective).
When you say "new" is it new out of the box from Cisco or from a re-seller.
I bought it from eBay. It's brand new when I purchase it. I changed the console cable, it's not working. I check all the lights, it's green. I try to connect it with my computer and use it as hub. It works fine. But, I just can't get access to it. The IOS image is already install when I buy it. I forgot to mention. I was able to access to the switch few weeks ago. I haven't changed anything or do any upgrade. It's so strange.
you can always connect to the switch using ethernet connection. The switch has a default IP and you can either connect to the web based wizard or the CLI.
