Problem about SSL about Apache and Tomcat

I'm new to the ssl.
Now I finished installing the apache+mod_ssl and Tomcat and some configuration as directed in the website of

http://www.apache.org.

Now, When I access my website using

https://xx.xx.xx/xx/xx.jsp,

the browser tells me that my certification is not right, and after I click "ok", I can still access all the jsp page. I had thought that I should not access all the page when the error abovve arise,Is this right? And What's the symbol that I installed right?

It probably just means that your certificate is not signed by a CA, or that it is expired or has the wrong web site address.
