Hi:

In my report I have a formula that returns ‘Number of people’ +' '+ ToText(count_ppl). Count_ppl is a variable and calculated.

The problem is that I am selecting this in the Select Expert in that I am looking for records “Is equal to” , ‘Number of people’ but of course this formula is going to return ‘Number of people 3’ for example, so it wont bring back any records.

How do I get around this ? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.
Ta.

The Select Expert can only work on the raw data. Not on things that you work out within the report.

It also helps if you specify your version. I am assuming Crytal 8.5. If you want to show groups with a particular number of people, group and use a summary count to total the number of people in that group. You can suppress groups that do not match the parameter value.

Does this help?

You could use 'startswith' instead of equal to, but the real question is when the variable is calculated. This formula my occur AFTER the selection is completed.
