Hi Again: This is from the Access help:

"You can attach a database object in an e-mail mail message in one of the following output formats: HTML (.htm, .html), Microsoft Excel (.xls), Microsoft MS-DOS text (.txt), Rich Text Format (.rtf), in the case of a data access page, data access page (.htm, .html), or, in the case of a report, report snapshot (.snp)."

It seems a little unclear, but I tested it and it seems that an object or picture will only export "in the case of a report" by using the .snp format.

I have had this problem before and I know that the .snp format will confuse my clients. So I export the file as .rtf and then open it in Word and insert the image. Then save the file as a word doc. and attach it to an email.

Attaching the report in the format .snp will retain your graphic.

I have been sending it as .rtf format, I just looked there is no option for sending as .snp. I am using 97, is it only available in 2000??
Thanx

Snp is the SnapShot format and is included in Access97. I use it all the time and is the only way you can preserve graphics in an exported reported with an out-of-the-box installation of Access. It is possible to produce .PDF's but it requires special software and lots'o'code.

Could you please tell me how to send a report as a snapshot? Thanks
Stacey

Here's the general format

DoCmd.SendObject acSendReport, "MyReportName", "Snapshot Format", "MyEmail@MyDomain.com", "CCAddress", "BCCAddress", "Subject", "Message", True

Change the True to False if you just want to send the message without changing it. Remove CC and BCC if you don't have anyone to send carbon copies.

Should I be able to send in snapshot format by using File, Send? It works for all formats except for snapshot. I need it to prompt for the email address is this possible with using the snapshot this way?
Stacey

Hello Joe
I have used the format you suggested and I am getting the following error: Method 'SendObject' of object '|DoCmd'failed.
I'm not sure where I'm going wrong as I have no problems sending the reports in other formats.
Thanx again for your patience!

You may not have the SnapShot format installed if you ran a custom setup of Office and somehow deselected it. I'd run Office setup and ensure it's installed, that's what it sounds like is going wrong.

I installed SR-1 and the option for snapshot appears when using file, send, which it didn't before I installed the update but it still doesn't work. When I originally installed Office I selected all options.
