Pro 6.0 and Reader 6.0

We have been told that you should not install these two programs on the same PC, is this true? Our problem is that some of the links in the documents act differently when viewed in Pro 6.0 than in Reader 6.0 and having to move to a different machine and test all the links is not very efficient.
