I setup a 2003 server and have a workstation right beside it. Web server and workstation both on 192.168.2.0 network that's connected to a router and then to internet. The server is only letting through port 80. For security reasons. I don't wanna access it from my workstation through this IP. Therefore I setup a separate NIC in each computer, hooked them up with a cross-over cable and gave them IPs 10.10.10.1 and 10.10.10.2 mask 255.255.255.0 The problem is that when I try to access both computers back and forth they ping each other but not all the time most of the packets are dropped and not getting to each other. I tried static routes in both machines and that doesn't seem to help either. It looks like it's confused and not going to the right interface and then the right network. I am confused myself as well now ) Please help me out. Thanks.

Hi there,
do you have default gateways configured on both nics? If so, remove the default gateway on one of the nics (on both servers). Windows OS doesn't understand "ecmp" and screws up with multiple gateways. This should correct your problem.

ie:
server1-nic1
ip: 192.168.2.3/24
gw: 192.168.2.1
server1-nic2
ip: 10.10.10.1/24

server2-nic1
ip: 192.168.2.4/24
gw: 192.168.2.1
server2-nic2
ip: 10.10.10.2/24
