I am removing a private (POTS) line from my boss' phone. He is going to reuse that POTS line at home. I am assuming i have to out it as a trunk too, correct? i am not really familiar with private lines. I am going to start by nulling the key it's on from his phone, but isn't it also programmed as a rout? and how am i going to figure out which rout it is if i have more than one private line (which i definitely do?) thank you

You may have multiple private line trunks assigned to the same route - so you may not want to remove the route - just the trunk.

1st verify the trunk member that is used for private line.
- Call the private line number - and have someon answer it and stay on the line.
- in switch - go to LD 80, type trac(space)(tn) - or if option 11 - trak(Space)(TN) of the phone with the private line. This will show you the active tn of the phone and the tn and route member of the private line. It should also say COT.

Now I am assuming that when you say private line you mean a copper CO line that is crossconnected to a TN on the switch. And after outing the TN you will need to pull the jumper and someone from the CO office will move that line to his house.
It may be possible that this is a DID in which case it would have said on the trace command and you just need to remove the key on the set and telco will do the rest.

If you need further help - post the results of hte trace so we have more detail

it is definitely not a DID. In fact, I am replacing the POTS line with a DID so he can use the POTS line in his house. Thanks for your help and i'll give this a try.
