prints only two copies from word...

Hi,
have an epson C8000 col laser
from ms word 97 will only print two copies no matter how many specified
will print fine from excel
using XP Pro with printer attached locally...but same happens from shared PC
driver is one that comes with XP [no others available from epson]
any help welcome
