Howdy,

I have a printer connected to a RAN port. It prints fine then at times will only print part of a document and stop. I've swapped printers and swapped ports and the conclusion is it isn't the printer or cabling. I'm leaning toward the port or a device problem. I don't have another port to swap this with unfortunately. Anyone run across this? I'm thinking it is simply a bad port.

This sounds like a classic flow control problem - try setting the RAN port to support Xon/Xoff flow control and make the sure the printer is supporting the same.

Have you enough free space on [tt]/var[/tt] and/or [tt]/tmp[/tt] filesystems?
I hope it works...
Unix was made by and for smart people.

The flow control appeared ok. I did notice that the /var was low and did clean up some files there though I don't think low enough to cause the problem, but you never know! It is a sporadic problem so we'll see how it goes.

thanks
