I am trying to print a 46 page document to a Ricoh 3800 color laser printer. I want the booklet to print as a saddle stiched booklet. I can't get the proper set-up.

Any suggesitons?

Is the problem with not having the pages imposed in PageMaker or with your printer driver? PM makes reader's spreads, not the printer spreads that you need. Check out the 'build booklet' utility/script.

Once I impose the file, what additonal settings do I need so my publication prints two pages, duplexed, on 11x17 paper?

Hi, casflow,

Your Ricoh 3800 looks like a neat network copier/printer and finisher.

Unless some one here has an identical machine, we can only generalise.

If you are creating a 2 up saddle stitch booklet, your pages need to be in multiples of 4. So you need to insert a couple of blank pages.

You have two choices:

You can use PM "build booklet" plugin to do the imposition, and then duplex the resulting 24 pages.
or
(and I'm guessing here not being familiar with your Ricoh)) you can send all 48 pages to the Ricoh and allow the printer to impose, duplex and staple.

With 12 sheets of paper, there will a large amount of "creep" — the inner pages will extend further out than the outer pages when folded, and require trimming. When trimmed the inner pages are narrower than the outer pages. PM "build booklet" can compensate for this.

I suggest you experiment.
