Not sure where to post this. If a printer is not powered on and a document is sent to it I would expect the document to go onto the print spooler. This is the behaviour from my PC and others that I have tried. However on 2 PC's the PC just hangs indefinitley. I eventually have to kill the process.

My real problem is that I am printing large volumes of documents from these PC's. The application that prints these documents spews out the first few documents very fast and then slows down to a crawl. This is presumably after the buffer has filled.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Depends on how the application is set up. Would suspect that in this case the app is dumping to the printer port directly through its own dedicated spooler area rather than going into the system spooler.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

THe symptoms described are not specific to any application.

I seem to have resolved the problem. I renamed the default spool directory, just to see what would happen. When I renamed it back to the original name the output started going to the spooler
