Help! I'm a little confused by using decimal units. I'm plotting from model space, specifying a number of units to an inch. Is there a way to change the unit setting to metric? For example, if i want to print from model space at 1:1000 i need to specify how many units per INCH equals how many units in the print dialog box.
I've been doing it slopily by holding an inch scale against my Metric 1:1000 scale to get roughly 1 inch = 26 +/- units. This
works for quick stuff, but there has to be an accurate way to do this!!! I don't want to scale the dwg by 12, i want to work
in decimal or metric.
Many thanks!

The "exact" conversion from metric to english (imperial) is 1 inch=25.4 mm, so you were pretty close. I don't think you'll find an AutoCAD setting to simplify this conversion when you're using different units between your paper size and drawing. You also have to figure this out yourself if modelspace and paperspace have different units.

if your paper size is metric, and i'm guessing that your dimensions are in metric, why don't you draw in metric? or once your mostly finished your drawing, scale all of the objects up by 25.4 to put it in metric. Mixing Imperial, and metric, only leads to big problems.
