Howdy!

I have two sites. One running SCO 5.0.6a with static IP. The remote site, running WIN XP also with static IP.

Remote site has two printers (HP Laser printers). I need to print to these printers. What must I do?

I am working on getting netcat to work on my local network. Could I use netcat to print to remote site? If so, how?

Thank you all in advance!

If the HP LaserJets are using HP JetDirect I/F, you can use the hpnp utility which is already present on your system.

For each printer, add an entry to the SCO's /etc/hosts file. Then, run /usr/lib/hpnp/hpnpcfg. The only menu item you need is number (6).

Your SCO box should already be able to ping those printers. If not, you'll probably need a default gateway configured.

I think netcat is an alternative, but not one I've used.
