I have a project that I'm trying to print and I would like to print to the edge of the paper. My margins are set to "0" but I still have 1/2 an inch on the right and 1/4 inch on the left from the edge of the paper. Is this a printer issue? I'm using an HP Deskjet 952C.

Can anyone please help?

Yes - it is a printer issue. Printers need extra space around a page design for:
1) registration or crop marks
2) bleeds
3) gripping/feeding in the printer or press

This extra area is managed by using sheets of paper that are larger than the page design. Letter-sized pages may be printed on 9x12" sheets.

Items #1 & 2 do not apply to your HP printer (although you should probably use crop marks). You seem to be wrestling with #3 here.

It is definitely a printer issue. There is no way an HP Deskjet of any sort can print right to the edge. You need to either use a larger size paper than your publication (if your printer can handle larger sizes) or alternatively, make your layout slightly smaller than the max paper size your printer can handle and trim afterwards. A real pain I know, but there has to some paper the printer can grip to pull the paper through the feeder rollers that cannot be printed on.

There are a slew of new inkjets and lasers hitting the market these days that allow to-the-edge printing. Maybe it is time to upgrade, if this will be a common problem. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
