A plotter sits at the end of a Lexmark MarkNet 2030t print server. This has previous been set up to print from NT, and works. I'm trying to set up a print queue on a RS6000 workstation so Catia users can print to the plotter, As well as from NT. Through smitty I've tried ever remote print option, with no success. Anybody have any ideas?

Once you have added the printer, what does the lpstat -t output look like? Does it just seem to hang when displaying the remote status?
Remote printing is very picky about the naming convention. Double check the specs on the 2030t print server (hostname and queue-name from 2030t's setup). Also, you will need to ensure that lpd is up and running on the RS/6000. A quick and easy test to verify connectivity is to hit the lpd port on the RS/6000.

# telnet localhost 515

If your connection is refused, you need to fire up the lpd.

smit->print spooling->manage print server->start the print server subsystem.
