Hi All
I have a user with a Printer, they are trying to
print from a dos based Accounting Application, when they print the document it is missing 1 centimetre of text from the left to right of the document. The printer works fine from all other applications, I have tried manually rescaling the document to 85% and this helps a little, there is no option within the Accounting application to resize the document, My question is, is there anyway of installing the printer so that it will see that this is a dos based program and fit all the print in automatically?
I tried removing and reinstalling the printer, I thought it may give the option to select the printer to print dos based applications but it didn't? It is a W2K Pro PC and is a networked machine..
Any ideas please
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

I assume this is a HP printer ? I doubt you will succeed with the PCL6 driver as it is simply not designed to work very well with DOS applications. Instead either try the PCL 5e driver or send specific escape sequenses to adjust paperwidth and lenght via a PJL eller PCL command to the printer via a parallel cable.

Read more here about common PCL here: For an overview of common PJL commands go here :

Henry, I ran into a similar problem printing from WINDOWS
when installing an HP LJ 1200. After spending some time in
HP's website, I found the cure... scrap the driver for the
1200 and use HP LJ III instead. I don't know if there is
an answer for you there but, you might want to check their
(HP.COM) FAQ for the model of printer you are using. Good
Luck. Chx

Thank you both for replying, I have tried the PCl5 driver
but no luck, also it is a Canon IR2000 printer have tried their website no luck, any other ideas greatly appreciated..
