Hi,

I'm looking up to print to HP LaserJet 5 printer with D-link 301P Print Server on the Network from a SCO Openserver 5.0.4 Unix. I configured the Printer from HP PrintManager. The printer did appear in the Print Manager and when I tried printing, it was also queued. But No print.

I browsed for solutions and found netcat. but I couldn't compile the netcat.c.

Could anyone Help me on this.

Regards,

Arun

Thanks Tony for the Info.

I downloaded the netcat.elf and tried printing using it.

The Problem I encountered on the Printer
1) the Printing did not start automatically but the printer showed a message "Data Received", On pressing the GO Button, I got the printout.
2) I didn't know how to change the Font Size/ Col. Width from the command

The other answer here would be to setup the D-Link as a remote printer under SCO Printer Manager. I use a couple of D-Links under 5.0.4 and 5.0.5 and they work fine that way. The only issue is slow response when killing print jobs.

Megabitman, Could you walk me through on how to setup a Remote Printer. Since in the Printer Manager, I've only the Remote Unix / Netware Options.

Since we do not have any Netware, I selected the Remote UNIX, I've to provide the Remote Printer. This information is not retreived.

Tony's solution did work for me with Dot Matrix Printer.

Looking forward to your response.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Configure the IP address using either the D-Link PS Admin tool (I'm assuming your print servers work the same as mine which are "DP-300's") or telnet. Use the SCO Printer Manager (you can get there quickly by using 'scoadmin printer'. Choose Printers and Add Remote and Unix. For the host, you can enter the IP address or the host name if you've set it up in /etc/hosts. For the Printer, enter the Port name that you set up in the D-Link (make sure they are identical!). That should be all you need. One caveat: If you use dot-matrix, set the speed to low. Generally that should work for you. Any questions, post back.
