This is regarding a certain application where some reports are to be optionally printed to a Dot Matrix Printer. I am using Generic Text / Only Printer Driver. In my FRX files, I would like to use Condensed and Double Width printer codes but these get printed in the reports as dots with absolutely no effect on my reports.

I did a little further R & D on this, and now know that if the "Select 10 cpi" box in the Font Tab of the Generic Text/Only driver found in the Printers folder is updated with the printer code for Condensed/DW codes it works, my query is how can this be achieved thru a program i.e. updating the codes programmatically .

Alternately, is there any other way I can achieve the same result viz. printing Condensed/DW modes as I would in a DOS report ?

Hello

Try placing a field with CHR().

If the expression in a field is, for example: CHR(15) + "the rest of the expression", the printer will switch to condensed mode. Resetting the printer back to normal mode is done with CHR(15) also.

Hope this helps Grigore Dolghin
