I have done this before and for some reason, I cannot get it to work again. I have a RedHat 7.2 box with KDE installed being used as a workstation. I also have a Canon BJC2100 that I can print to as long as it is connected directly to the KDE workstation.
However, since the printer is part of my home network other people in the house tend to need to use the printer. The print queue for the network resides on a RedHat 6.2 box and the Windows clients are able to print fine, but the KDE workstation is not.
I have added a + in hosts.equiv (bad security move I know, but for testing it was easiest).
If I stop printing on the RedHat 6.2 box, I do not see the job being received from the KDE box. Additioanlly, I am not receiving any error messages on either end.
I am able to ping and telnet into the RedHat 6.2 server from the KDE workstation and vice-versa.
The princap file on the RedHat 6.2 Server simply specifies the printer name, the remote server ip address, and the remote port. No filters are in place on the printer.
I have also tried printing directly to the Milan box by IP address and port name from the KDE workstation without success.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Jay
