Long time lurker, first time poster.

We installed a new print server / PDC on our network, going from Win2k to Win2003 server. We moved an HP 4000TN from the old to new server.

Now, all files except Excel print incredibly slow. Word documents are at least 50% slower than Excel for example.

I've downloaded the newest HP drivers and tried a few other tweaks. This is so odd...any ideas on things to try? It is a networked printer obviously.

Use the PCL5 drivers instead of the (reportedly buggy) PCL 6 drivers.

Make sure your gateway and netmask are correct.

Try turning down the speed to 10Base-T on the network cards (if you are getting noise or inductance from florescent lights, etc. this can cause network slowdowns)

Just my 2¢

You may also want to do a system print page - and configure the RAM on the print server to the correct amount, along with Economode, disable advanced print features, make sure the print driver is set to print after all pages are spooled, and the driver is RAW.
