printing situation

Hi...I'm new to illustrator, just started using v.10...my situation is, when I print, it takes a while to spool, and no matter the graphic on the page, the printer box shows the file as being somewhere around 25 Mb in size. Even if it's a little scribble...does anybody have any experience with this situation? Is there a simple fix for it? Thanks. Any help is most appreciated.
