Hello,

I am having the following problems, but before hand let me explain to you my actual system.

1. We have SCO Unix Sys/V-Ver 3.2.4.2 installed in our company. Most of the workstations are Wyse60 dumb terminals and serial dot matrix printers.

2. We recently installed another Windows NT server - service pack 6 and also linked both servers through TCP/IP.

Now, from a normal Windows 98 PC one can access the Unix applications via a terminal emulator and it works normally. But i would like to eliminate the Serial Cable ( RS232 ) that connects from the specialix port adaptor from Unix server to that of my printer.

PS: I am planning to install a Laserjet printer (parallel) directly to my Windows 98 PC. My aim is to have the reports that i generate from the Unix host ( e.g. invoice ) to be printed directly on the laserjet printer

Awaiting your prompt reply,

Thank you & best regards.

I do this currently, my best friends for the job are D-Link DP-101 and DP-301 print servers.
These occupy a network port but give each printer its own IP address (web based config too :)) and can be accessed from anywhere on our WAN.
SCO recognises them using rlpconf and since the change from shivaports to these 10baseT printservers my print problems have dropped by 98%.
Gotta be a real sweet move. ***************************************
Party on, dudes!

Well i do have none of above software installed on my SCO Unix Sys/V. I have got only TCP/IP installed. I prefer to enable lpd services on NT. But where will i obtain lpd in Windows Nt.

Thanks
Salim

lpd in NT is the Unix Printing Services or Simp;le TCP/Ip service or something like that- it's changed in Win2k but it does the same thing- you just have to turn it on. Tony Lawrence
