I want to print Visual Foxpro Report form to a Text file so that I can fax it out.
I tried the following:

Set alternate on
do report test to file c:\test.txt

It does not work, why?

You probably want to use:
REPORT FORM test TO FILE c:\test.txt ASCII

I use the Report form xxx to file xxx.txt ascii also but I find it strange that your fax program does not have a print driver that alows you to print directly from any program into the format the fax program requires to sent this image file out. All I do with my ZetaFax progarm is

Set printer to ("zetafax printer")
report form xxxx to print
set printer to ("HP6 Lazer Jet")
Fax printer driver program then appears and you can fax directly to one or 5000 people right from inside foxpro.

Just a thought. David W. Grewe

When you get it to send out to file you can also email from within VFP if you use Outlook. That is a nice function to add.

Dave,

I find it strange that your fax program does not have a print driver

He may be faxing it the old fashioned way.....manually thru a fax machine.

Stagmotor,

Just as a head's up...if after printing the report to file, you notice some of the columns are truncated, take a look at the _AsciiCols system variable. You will need to increase its value. Jon Hawkins
