printing problems on phaser 740

I'm experiencing print quality problems on a 740 as follows: On the LHS I get a magenta toner stain. The pattern occurs on all pages on the testprint (aka service print 1). I have tried the following:
1. Running around 20 blank pages to see if it was temporary.
2. Cleaned toner cartridges
3. Reset imaging unit - ie pull it out and back in again.
4. switch existing margenta to another magenta cartridge - might try switching colors to see what happens.
5. Check imaging unit and fuser
6. switch imaging unit

Nothing has worked so far. Also, have a problem with the black where the black is missing from the bottom of the page on the full black page. I have the service print pages and can forward copies if it will help.

Please clean the main charge grid corona wire. It will be dirty on the LHS. Maybe this will help. I had a similar problem but my LHS stripe was multi colored. Also check the waste bin under the transfer roller as it will fill rapidly from the excess toner along that edge with this kind of problem.
