Our software talks to the aix printers I guest by a script Im not sure we dont have software support and more for the software and I dont know who the software works.
I have stop qdaemon on the aix side
stopsrc -s qdaemon then I started the qdaemon
can anybody else tell me is there any other qdaemon i need to checkfor the printer or any other qdaemon needs to be started.

Thank you.

hi,
the way to stop/start qdaemon is correct, but it is not clear which is the problem. You said "aix side": is there another OS involved in the print ? do you mean lpd instead qdaemon ? Which error and which is the command submitted by the program ?
bye

I sorry

I wanted to check to make sure all qdamon are running
yes the lpd to.

The software meaning the data software not the os software.

I think its a problem withthe software talking to the aix printer and we dont have software support on the data software because we are getting rid of the software package
and going with a new company.

I what to make sure all hardware is up and running and its not the aix side thats giving the problem by the way we are running 4.3.2
what should I look for to make sure the aix side is fine.
again thank you

hi, not yet clear, however do:

lpstat

(gives you state of current defined queues, local and remote: all must be READY )

lssrc -g spooler

qdaemon and writesrv must be active, lpd must be active if your system accept jobs from a remote system (acts as a printer-server), otherwise may be inoperative.

bye

Subsystem Group PID Status
qdaemon spooler 7750 active
writesrv spooler 8004 active
lpd spooler inoperative
what can I do to start the lpd

I just started the lpd and Im still having the problem
I know its not the hardware side that its the app. side
thanks for all your help.

hi, from a root terminal enter

smitty server
Add Print Access for a Remote Client
enter client names or a '+' for every client

Start the Print Server Subsystem (lpd daemon)
both

however, also if you put a + in client name, client hostname must be resolved from the system (/etc/hosts or dns or nis )

bye
