Hi,
Firstly I will admit that I'm quite new to Linux, but I believe that I've followed all the logical checks for this problem, but I'm still drawing a blank, so it's over to you guys in the know.
I have a very simple server, running an old version of Caldera 1.3 with (what I believe to be ) kernel 2.0.35. It is running on an old P133 with 32Mb of RAM. UI have set up a simple printer on /dev/lp1 using PrintTool which has created a spool file in /var/spool/lpd called lp. lpc shows that the spooler is running and when prints are printed to it, the number of prints increases by one. Printing deirectly to the port from cmd prompt or PrintTool produces a page. But printing from lpr or testing from PrintTool only increases the print queue by one. Attempting to stop the spooler always gives 'no permission to control queue'.
I've been looking at this for days now... and it's getting to me. What am I missing ? Where should I be looking, and Why didnt it work ?
All answers are gratefully received - thanks guys!
