printing pictures quick question

I read the FAQ about correct resolution for priting pics at 300dpi,

The picture was taken with a professional camera so is therefore pretty big to start with

However when I set it to 300dpi the picture becomes massive should i then scale it down when im in Indesign?

You need to go to image>image size and then check 'resample image' box bottom LH of window. You can then make it the approx size you want it to print at (in mm's or cm's or inches), and at 300dpi. You'll see the actual file size at the top of the window (pixel dimensions) which should give you an idea of how big the file will be.

Remember to save it as a copy if it's your only version.
