I'm trying to print on custom-sized paper, and the design keeps getting cut off at the edge. I've played with the bleed details, but maybe I'm not doing it right. How can I get an image to go all the way to the edge or at least near the edge on custom-sized paper? I'm using InDesign CS2 on Windows XP.

You can't. Every printer has a built in margin for paper except for a few photo printers.

Generally, to get what you want, you print on paper larger than what you need and cut off (trim) the edges back to your desired size. For instance, if we need 8.5 X 11 with color to the edge for a proof, we print on 11X17 paper and trim back. If we need 11X17 full bleed, we run it on 13X19.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

...you will likely need to print to a larger size sheet than your artwork, so all elements are on the sheet, or reduce to fit the artwork to the sheet in your print settings and then cut it out...
