Hello Guys,

Is there a way to print on an Epson Stylus 1000 from SCO Unix Sys V Rel 3.2.4.2 ? When doing this for the moment, the printout is being split up on two A4 papers (i.e. Half printout on 1st Page and the other half on the second page ).

I checked at the interfaces, i saw epson being used.

But when same printout is directed to a Dot matrix printer, no problem occur.

What could the problem be ?

Thanks.
Salim

INK/DESK/BUBBLE jet printers rely heavily on the os to do most of the processing (similar to a winmodem).

Does the Epson Stylus have a LQ emulation mode?
I haven't seen any inkjet drivers for any version of sco.

Hi Stanhubble,

Thanks for replying.

Yes, the printer do emulate the following printers;

LQ-2550
LQ-860
LQ-850
LQ-510
LQ-500

Me too i didn't come across the inkjet drivers of sco, i made so many searches on google, on Unix newsgroup site, got some directions, but it didn't worked out. Though i admit that my OS is VERY VERY VERY old, but as long as it is working and stable, i prefer to save some thousands of bucks for my organisation.

Keep me informed if have any new development.

Thanks once again and kind regards.

Has anybody been able to work out something on an Inkjet or Deskjet yet ?

Thanks for any suggestions.

The LQ printers you mentioned are able to take straight text, so you should be able to write your own interface script (or edit the existing one) to send the command to the printer to turn on LQ-xxx emulation, then pipe the text file to the printer.

You will need to find printer command language documentation for the printer to determine the correct commands to send, then simply insert an echo in the interface file before the job is spooled, followed by a reset (or FF then reset) when the job is complete.

Thanks for replying guys.

PHV, can you please help me how you've been able to make it work on different HP DeskJet ?

I used them as old LaserJet, using only PCL2 commands.

Hope This Help, PH.
