I have an NT4.0 workstation that the user cannot change options. Everything is grayed out. Her account is setup to have admin right to the local box as well as part she is part of the admin group of the domain. She also has print rights to printers. All of her printers are behaving the same way.

What could be wrong?

Thanks in advaince.

To start with, I think your post has an answer:

"Printing - no option to change"

"She also has print rights to printers"

To manage printers a user must have Full Control permission. Everyone group has print permission by default.

But something is confusing, if she is part of the local and domain admins group why doesn't she have full control over printers by default?

And what about the other admins logging on, do they have the option to change printer properties?

Is there any other message appearing when she tries to change printer options?

Thanks for your quick reply. This behavior happens on the only NT4 workstation I have. Ironicaly I have mixed platformes between win2k and 95, but only one nt4 workstation for software reasons.

The box is part of a domain. I know for a fact if you don't make the account part of the admin domain group, you will not have full rights to the box even if you gave that account administrative rights to the local account. To be more spacific, in the UMD for the admin group I have:

DOMAIN\Admin group
DOMAIN\MYRA
ADMINISTRATOR
MYRA ---- alog with other irelevent accounts

Even though as you can see myra is part of the domain admin group as well as the local admin group, when trying to modify printer property, everything is grayed out. No options to change anything.

It should be sufficient in this case to have only print right to that printer.

Not sure what could be wrong. I've also tryed to take that box out of the domain and added back on.

Thanks for help.
