Here's a good one.

We have had numerous 4000 series printers for 10+ years from 4000 to 4350 without any problems.

We tried to set up some new xerox coloqube 8870 printers on our windows 2003 server.

They were installed and then 15-20 pc's out of 180 have started locking up when printing.

The fix for them is anything from restarting, deleting all printers to recreating the local outlook folder that stores the .ost file!

Why just them PC's as they are all WinXP pro, set up the same?
If it is a driver issue, why not all of them?
Why the outlook profile?

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Kris

Are they updated individually/manually or via script?

They were installed both via a script and manually. The PC's lock up at the point when they are trying to update the printer driver by the looks of it but not all of them lock up. It is always the same PC's as well, which is still a mystery.

Have you tried updating them under a different user w/ admin rights?

I've logged on as an admin user to try and see what is going on but never thought of trying to print to allow that to update. most of the users are frigged once they have locked up and the local profile has to be created when this has happened. its something to try, but the confusing thing is why certain users? all are windows xp pro with two different types of builds but approx. 30 out of 170 lock up but the rest dont.
