Has anyone come across an issue of attempting to print locally while using XP pro RDC. I have run into an issue where someone needs to print from various applications running on a remote desktop but they want the items printed to their local client's printer. What I have attempted is connecting from the remote machine using "net use lpt1:" followed by the ip and then the sharename. The person is going through a linksys router from their location and I have tried opening various ports for tcp/ip printing including 9100-9200 and a few other ports below. I resulted in trying to allow that machine to act as a dmz (not really wanting to) and still no go. Drivers for the local printer are available on the remote machine but that is not our issue right now. If anyone has any ideas maybe you could share. By the way, when I attempt to do that connection I get network error 67 ... network can't be found. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hello,

Before the user connects to the computer using RDP you need to click on options>Local Resources> and put a check in Printers under the local devices portion to map the local printers. This should allow them to print locally.

HTH!

James,
Thanks for the reply. I don't know how I could have overlooked that. It appears to work fine internally. I will have to test it out externally and see how it goes but hopefully it should be just fine. I appreciate the response. Happy helping.
