I am one week into learning Acces and its going well. I am printing labels onto a sheet of A4 paper. There are 84 labels per page (35mm photo slide labels). During a session I might print 20 labels, peal them off and then on the next session do another 20. I need an option where I can tell the report to print from position number 21 on the sheet of lables else it prints over the 20 labels I have already peeled off.

Any ideas on how I might do this?

Thanks Mike

The Microsoft Access Developer's Handbook has an example and code to do exactly this, however, it is copyrighted material so I cannot post it for you here. I would suggest purchasing the book, or heading down to your local Barnes & Noble to take a peek.

Hi There: I am not sure I totally understand what you are trying to do, but if you are just trying to print different sections or pages of a report you can go to Print and then from the print pop-up box you can choose from "print range" options to include: Page number range, or "Selected Records."

Let me know if this works?

Thanks Beth,
But I want to print all my pages and all my records. I just need them to start printing further down the page and not ontop of the labels I have already peeled off the sheet of paper.

Hi Mike:

You might try creating a page or report header and adjusting the height each time you run your lables. That will move the details/records down the page. Let me know if this works.

Thanks Beth,

But I need something a bit smoother than that. A piece of code that asks for the number of the labels position to start printing at.

Joe, I have the 'Access 97 developers handbook', is it in there?(I also have the companion 'VBA Developers Book')

Yes it is in the Access 97 Developer's Handbook, Chapter 9. If you open the Ch09.MDB file on the CD you'll have what you're after.

Hi, folks!

I was just composing a question about label printing and then I read about q guy wanting to do something similar to what I want.

My case is: I want snaking-column labels and a "start new column" on a control break (i.e., group level change). An alternative would be to force some blank or filled-in dummy labels until the next column begins (e.g., control break for next group of five labels with data, then another five to fill out the column). There's got to be a simpler way for me to handle this... subreport and/or two-up printing? I'll welcome any suggestion. Although client is concerned about cost of labels, I think that's of lesser concern than the convenience of breaking up information so it's obvious.

Another thought was to create just a single dummy label filled with X's so the break could be seen quickly.

Thanks, John

Thanks Jo,

I got the book and followed it successfully. It is a very neat solution.

On to the next problem now.

Many thanks to you all for your input.
