I’ve got a very weird printing issue in Macola that I just can’t seem to figure out.

I installed a new printer a few weeks ago (Dell H825cdw) and ever since, one of our users has had issues printing in Macola. Whenever on a print screen (Eg. Print Pick Tickets) and switches from another printer to the new printer, the paper sizes changes from Letter to “B6” in the printer defaults for the store printer. When he goes back to using other printers, the custom paper sizes stays which causes the print job to print incorrectly.

The odd thing is that everyone else in the office has not had a problem. I’ve replicated the problem using my username, but am hesitant to try to replicate it on anyone else’s since I’m not sure what is causing it and don’t want to cause anyone else to not be able to print.

If, in the printer properties for the NEW printer, you change the paper size back to “Letter” and close and reopen the window, the setting stays and it prints correctly. You can also change the printer to another printer and it still prints correctly. However, when you change the printer back to the store printer it changes the printer default paper size in macola to “Letter (8.5 x 11)”. But it still prints correctly until the second time you switch from the NEW printer to another one and then back to the NEW printer. At that point, it changes the paper size to “Custom (8.5 x 11)” and then from then on it keeps the incorrect settings for the store and the other printers until you go back and change the paper size for the store printer.

At first I thought it might be a Macola issue, but then one of the computers in the office was having an issue with printing an internet page (same small paper size) so then I thought it might be the printer.

I reinstalled the printer on the server, tried a different version of the driver, and updated the firmware which fixed the issue with printing from an internet page, but didn’t fix the Macola issue.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this. Thank you!

We're running Macola Progression 7.7.900

Update:

I was able to fix the issue by switching to using the Dell Open Print Driver for the printer.
