I'm stumped! I have a 3 page word document on a Windows 2000 machine which has the page mubering as 1-3, 2-3 and 3-3. If I log in as myself it will not print the page numbers at the bottom in this way, it just says 1,2,3. if I log in as administrator on the machine it prints out 1-3,2-3 and 3-3. Is this a Windows or Office thing? Lamaar75@hotmail.com

I am sure - and what defies me even more is that I am a member of the Administrators group! Also, if I save this file to disk and give it to a colleague, they can print it out fine. Baffled, Baffled, Baffled! Lamaar75@hotmail.com

I've never actually used this type of numbering but I'll have a guess.

Is the page number created by using Chapter numbers?
If so, doesn't this then tie in with numbered Heading styles.

So since the numbering List Galleries (Local User in the Registry) can be different for each user logged onto the pc...

thanks for the input - it must have been a profile thing as I have re-created a new one and it works fine - i think I'll stick to this - thanks for all who answered Lamaar75@hotmail.com
