PRINTING IN UNIX

My office is using Epson-5000EX printer to print our forms. I do not know how the printer has been set up but we control it via Unix. Every now and then we encounter problems in printing our forms. How do we troubleshoot it via Unix? What sort of things must we look into initially to troubleshoot such problems?

lpstat -p will give you the status of all printers.

enable <printername> will enable your printer if it goes offline.

accept <printername> will allow your printer to accept print requests.

lpstat -o <printername> gives details of the prints in the queue for the specified printer.

Also lpstat -o will show what jobs are still pending.
