I'd be grateful if anyone could offer any advice on setting up a default printer in Oracle 8.1.6 on a Solaris 7 platform. One of my reports keeps erroring due to the lack of a default printer.

TIA.

login as root, use admintool to set up default printer. I'm not by solaris and can't give you details but you'll see it when you type 'admintool'. It's window based tool.

Thanks for your response. I was fairly sure of the Solaris side of things, but not too sure of any Oracle tables I should be defining the default printer within. For example, we have a table with the following desciption:

SQL> desc printer_definitions
Name Null? Type
----------------------------------------- -------- -----------------
PDF_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(8)
PDF_DESCRIPTION NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
PDF_PRINTER_PATH NOT NULL VARCHAR2(1000)
PDF_PRINTER_PATH2 VARCHAR2(1000)

I wondered whether this has anything to do with the problem I've been experiencing? Thanks again.
