Have Windows 95, printing through the LPT1 port, to an HP deskjet printer. Was acting fine, then one day the user noticed that now her whole computer basically slows to a stand still until the job is done printing. Then everything starts reacting normally. The mouse won't respond hardly at all, any key stokes are on hold until the minute that job leaves the queue. The second that happens she can function again.

I have tried using HP latest drives for the printer, I have tried deleting it and using printer wizard to reinstall it. Nothing works. Anyone have any idea's I could try?

Look on the Details page of the properties of your printer.

Make sure that "Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster" is selected.

If "Print directly to the printer" is selected, it will most likely cause everything to be slow until the print job is done.

Mark,
I checked that setting and it is set to spool. I also tried the two setting RAW and EMF. But still no change. Any other thoughts on this issue?
