Hi all,
I realise i'm asking two things here, but they relate to the same page!

output from my database is to produce a poster, all details show ok and my css is fine, except when i acctually print. I get the headers and footers and no background!

Has anyone done this kind of thing before? I need my printout to be exactly as a poster in word or publisher would be.

Many thanks!
Nicola

If you're talking about headers and footers as generated by the browsers, you cannot change that. Also, browsers (by default) do not print backgrounds. Each individual can choose to print backgrounds and set any headers and footers they want in their browser. If you need this for yourself or within a small office, then you can set all the browsers to behave accordingly (if the users don't mind not having headers and have backgrounds on all the pages they print). You however cannot do this programmatically just for one page, because that is tampering with user's browser. There were some VB scripts available that were able to control old IE browsers, but given the exposure to attacks that causes, I would expect MS to disable that option by now.

Honestly, if you need something to look perfectly positioned when printed, I suggest you use PDF. Most server-side languages should allow writing to a PDF anyway.
