Hi,
I have 4 HP4050 printers running on the network. We are using Office97. Quite often when printing from Word, the print is produced from the wrong tray, consequently we end up printing on headed paper when we didn't intend to. Correct drivers are installed.

I've seen this same problem a few years ago where we were using Kyocera lasers emulating HP Laserjets but cannot remember the solution.

It's an intermittant problem but very annoying. Any advice/suggestions very welcome.

Thanks,

Sharon.

Sharon,

Hi this may be caused by one of the trays being empty.. Have you got auto continue turned off???

Or do all the desktops have "Auto" selected on the paper selection bit of the printer driver.

I have had similar problems, when using the HP4050 PCL6 drivers, I solved it by going back the HP4050 PCL5e drivers.
Or even in some cases using the HP4000 PCL5e worked as well.

If you need them I can email them to you. Is the machine with the problem always the same one, if so it may be worth checking to see if the printer type is set to a 4050/4050T or a 4050T/4050TN.

You tried recapturing the printer. If you are using NT how do you connect them, through a AXIS or a HP print driver, is some other connection....

Apart from that.....??

Dont you just love those intermittent printer problems :)

Cheers,

Paul
