Despite the default printer being a new HP colour Laser and everything in Crystal Reports is set to A4, my reports will always print with a Letter option. This then cause the HP a few problems.

I am using the default installation of CE10, the reports were designed using a printer with A4 settings etc. Nothing I do will force the CE10 viewer to use the A4 settings of the printer. I also print to a HP1220 inkjet, again CE10 will use Letter but at least the 1220 will just print anyway.

Where can I 'Force' CE10 to use A4 paper. Every other app on the local machine uses A4 without any problems.

CE-10 doesn't seem to recognize the paper properties of the source RPT file when they are published. I have a bunch of 11 x 17 Landscape CR-10 reports that came out as 8.5 x 11 portrait in their first run on CE-10 (most data was cut off).

The only fix I have found is to specify a page layout on the PROCESS tab of each Report Object in the CMC. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to set this as a default setting for folders or your entire CE environment.

Details are under "Setting printer and page layout options" on page 244 of the Crystal Enterprise Administrator’s Guide at :

Thanks MHJRBIM. I would have thought that with CE being such an established product, these issue would have been resolved many years ago!!. I have found several other annoying things my reports do when viewed in CE10.

The big problem with the oclout HP is that it requires manual intervention to get it going again and I lose anything after the first page if not set to A4.

Hi,
On Demand Printing is client-side so, if you pick the printer when prompted, it should use whatever you tell it -as long as the driver matches the one used to design it..

If you are printing from the CE server, using the scheduler, then be sure the printer On the CE server is properly configured and uses the same driver.

Turkbear,

Perhaps I have missed a bit. I do not think I have set up a printer on the CE Server itself. I am using the local printer drivers. Should I have installed drivers for the colour HP on the CE Server machine? IS this why it always defaults to Letter sized paper?
