I had to replace a WIndows 98 PC with a new Windows XP computer. The new PC does not have a Parallel Printer Port. Luckily the Laser Printer had both Parallel & USB connections.
My problem however, is my ACCPAC Plus (DOS)application will not recognize a USB Printer and so I can't print.
Other than installing a parallel port in my new PC, is there anything I can do to make Windows XP send a DOS print job to a USB printer?

Anything here?

Hi, Nellerbug

Depending on the laser printer driver, it may support DOS printing. I have an HP LJ 1000 where the printer driver can install a second DOS printer which has the ability to capture LPT1.

Other than that, you may be able to make the printer shared and then net use lpt1 \\computername\sharename to access the shared printer on your own machine. If that works then use the persistent option to make it permanent.

Otherwise, take a look at the following reference:

It is targeted toward clipper and other programming languages, but has info on spoolers etc which may enable you to route the Dos print to a windows printer.
