I am attempting to implement an NT Terminal Server 4.0/Metaframe XP solution for a disjointed system of slow PC Anywhere dialups. The agency runs a legacy DOS app called HCIS. The application has a Btrieve database running on a Novell 4.1 file server.

I can connect remotely to the Citrix server and run the DOS application through Citrix with no problem.
I can also print from Windows apps from within Citrix back to the client with no problem. But I can't print from the DOS application back to the client.

I've read that DOS applications look for specified hardware ports like LPT1 instead of waiting for events like windows applications. How can I get around this? Anyone?

Have you tried Net Use of lpt1 in user's Citrix connection and on their desktop so that any DOS print jobs go to the correct printer?

Example:

In Citrix
net use lpt1 \\client\LPT1:

Local Machine
net use lpt1 \\server\printer
