Hi just a quick one - does anyone know how to print a long list of file names within 98? I can go to the dos prompt but that doesn't accept long filenames. Is there a method within the GUI itself for printing bar doing loads of screen grabs in explorer?

Thanks

fezzer:

The Win95 Power Toys (you can use on 98) has a program called Sendtox that will create a right click menu item called Send to Clipboard as Name. Just select all the files in a folder, right click and choose 'send to clipboard as name' and you can then paste the list into virtually any text editor or database, edit all you want and then print from there.

List-Fc which is free may be an option.

It's a small program that puts a 'list folder contents to folder.txt' option in the right click menu. Right click a folder and select that option. It'll list the file names in a notepad file which you can then edit and print.

Use the following at the DOS prompt type:

DIR *.* > FOLDER.TXT /b

then exit dos, locate the newly created file ("FOLDER.TXT") and click to open with NOTEPAD. Then use NOTEPAD's Print options.

The easiest way for me to obtain a printable list of files is to do a screen capture using SnagIt (TechSmith). I can capture any window on the monitor screen with it.

A little program called TrePrint ( gives an option when in explore to print out the lists of files in any folder when you right click on the folder.
