I'm trying to print an SQR report document using qprt command and an hpJetDirect (Hewlett Packard) hplj-4 Queue

This queue is using ASCII File type and pass-through Preprocessing Filter Name

Each printout i print is having an extra empty page :(

This really gets me annoyed and made my boss disappointed :(

I'm still new to AIX field and i'm in urgent need for help

Thank you in advance

This is because the report has a formfeed at the end and the printer puts a formfeed at the end. You can usually find an entry in the printers menus to stop it printing blank pages. This is the quick and eay answer. Alternatively look in the printer menus for options on terminating formfeeds. IN either case the simple answer lies at the printer, not at the AIX end.

If you realy can't fix it at the printer end then it involves creating a filter to strip out the final formfeed which is not trivial

Also check that what you are seeing is not a separator page. This could be a printer option too. Sometimes the pages print first, so you will find a blank page between docs.

Thanks guys for the help... i will try to find someone expert on the printer itself coz we do have an engineer who works on the hardware stuff..

i was having this doubt that it might be the printer but i've changed the printer to another one and it still printing the same extra empty page :(

so i guess as columb said its printer sitting so i will try to look more into that :)

What a relief :)

I've done what you said guys and its working now :)

Printer's Menu options -> PCL Menu -> BLANKSKIP and set it to ON

and now its working like a charm :)

Thanks guys for the great help
