when i print drop my pages, the drop shadows behind some titles are causing the entire text box to appear slight shade darker than the rest of the background even though it doesn't appear this way in InD when zoomed way in. What can I change to keep this from happening and just have nice clean dropshadows?

This is due to a printer that does not support a recent version of PostScript or a transparency effect that mixes different color modes (such as RGB images over CMYK images).

If you are using InDesign CS, consider trying the 'flattener preview' to inspect why this is happening.
