Printing blocked on NIS 2006

Trying to sort this remotely without having the particular machine or a copy of Norton Internet Security (2006) in front of me!

Laptop running XP Home, NIS 2006 installed. Internet access is ok, but will not print documents to a shared printer on the network unless NIS is disabled.

Any clues please?
