printing an "Activities" list

Attempts to print an activities list do not include the dates. Columns are: "Activity" (says "Appointment" for all); "Description" (the particular activity) and "Details" (the times). Of course, without the date, all this isn't much help. So, printing the date is my primary concern. Secondary questions include:

-Is there any way to format the printing differently--perhaps by changing the typeface, or putting more space between the lines?
-Can the drop-down options (Today, This Week etc.) be modified, that is, set to give a specific span of dates.

I realize that an alternative is to print the calendar screen, but a list is what I need, not a mini-calendar.

Dear rahamim,
Somehow your question fell between the cracks and I didn't answer you,
as well, when I first read it I wasn't sure of the answer.
The problem is the left hand column has been pulled closed.
If you position the cursor right beside the left hand edge of the Activity column it will turn into a double-sided arrow and if you click and hold your left mouse button and pull to the right, you will open the Date column...
As to the idea of customising the activities Show by dates I am afraid that is a non-runner as you would also have to alter the queries that are run when you change the spread of days that are shown.
The fonts too are only editable from Tools|Preferences and cover the calendar only.
By the way I am referring to Sidekick98 here as I guessed you were too.

Dear James,

First, thanks for responding. I was beginning to think I'd asked a question that was either too difficult or too dumb to warrent a response.

However, there's a problem. What you've described has to do with how the data appear on the screen. My question has to do with how they are printed. No matter how I set up the columns on the screen (using the method you describe), the printed page does not show the dates. Try this: set up the "Activities" page for "Next Month" and "Appointments," click on "Print" then "Print Preview"--you'll see what I mean.

I lok forward to your response. And thanks again for fishing me out of the cracks.

Dear Rahamim,
I kind of realised after I had clicked Submit that that was what you meant but I was a bit tired (End of the week)!
I will try what you suggested and come back tomorrow with any answers I can think of (if any).
Good Luck for now
and bye

Dear rahamim,
I have tried what you suggested and it seems to work for me (Sidekick98 on Win98).
What version of Sidekick are you using and on what version of Windows?

Actually I tried it again and it didn't!!!!
Well after trying all kinds of variations I seem to have found a partial solution...
If you change the spooling properties of your printer StartMenu|Settings|Printers| then Right Click on the specific printer and select Properties and then
Details Tab then
Spool Settings and then choose
Print direct to Printer
it then selects RAW format
or just choose RAW Format and Spool print jobs.....
It seems to work most times then when I previewed it first and while the preview was on screen I then clicked on print!!

Occasionally I had nothing in preview so I exited preview and then ticked
selected Items or
All Items
whichever I hadn't ticked before, then I previewed it and then went back to what I had originally chosen...
I think there may be a problem having an HP895CXI Deskjet Printer connected on USB it could be that there is a problem with the spooling??
To be perfectly honest I haven't gone any further than that as I haven't the time but I wonder if there may be a corrupted Sidekick file.. or if Spool32 has a problem?
I have checked the Sidekick.ini file in Notepad but I can't find anything unusual Anyone else got any ideas?

Dear Rahamim,
I know you were referring to just the Date field/Column not showing up on your printout but what I was referring to last night/previous post was all the fields/columns data.
I have tried it at work too and with Sidekick98 on Win98 (both versions one at home is First edition Work is latest SE) and the same thing happens with that Printer which is connected by USB...
I will try tomorrow by printing across the network to a Printer (parallel cable connected) and see what happens there.
It is a facility I haven't made much use of so I had never realised.
I wonder if there is a printer driver update available that fixes this?
The problem you are having with one column not printing, sounds like a different problem though, wouldn't you agree?
Have you checked your printer/Paper settings and the margin sizes in preview?

Dear rahamim,
I haven't had a chance to check that out since as I am a bit snowed under,

First though, can you remind me what operating system you are on and what version of Sidekick you are using?
While you are at it, what printer do you have?
Did you try the not spooling method I mentioned earlier?

Jim,
Sorry, I thought I had answered your question about OS, etc.

I run WindowsMe on a Dell 1180 with a Pentium 4, and use Sidekick 98. Printer is HP Laserjet 1100A.

I hadn't tried the spooling technique because the printer was out for service (unrelated to SK problem. I thing--uneven printing, couldn't fix). It's back, so I will try the spooling soon.

I, too, have been jammed up, and the SK problem is not urgent. I do appreciate the time and care you take in these matters.

Tony
