printing a website

hallo,
i was wondering about printing websites. My website it looks horrible on print. Is there a CSS or javascript solution to control the printed result, like special styles and avoiding some elements to be printed? thanks to point the right road

Specifying a media type in your stylesheets allows you to customise the appearance of elements in your site for both screen and print (and other) media
